Bust of Laughing Child...Need Help
I recently acquired a unique bust of a child. It is captivating. I would like to know more about the age or material etc. The base is marked with crossed swords and some kind of dot?? under the hilts. It stands about 6 1/8 inches high, and is very heavy for it's size. (about 1 pound) It is very shiny and there is a ridge of sorts as if it was formed in two parts. Any help greatly appreciated. Re: Bust of Laughing Child...Need Help
Your bust is unlikely to be Meissen. It was possibly made at one of the Paris Manufactory's that copied the Meissen mark especially the one on your bust. If original it would have been made at the middle of the 18th century, your piece dates circa 1880

Re: Bust of Laughing Child...Need Help
Thank you so much for the reply. Might I further ask how you came to date the piece ? Would this type of porcelain or glaze not have been used in an earlier time?
