The following dealers have very comprehensive stocks. For the 18th century I recommend Errol Manners Antiques for the 19th century I recommend David Brower Antiques, and for both 19th and 20th century I recommend Davies Antiques. Please refer to contacts for more information.
For the ultimate Meissen experience a visit to Christies on the 18th December will be something that will go down into the history books. But be warned there will be very little standing space for the Meissen sale of the century.

Never be afraid to attend an auction salesroom. Salesrooms have an advantage over museums in that you can handle the lots being sold, although care has to be taken with valuable lots.

Thinking about investing in Meissen? |

Investing in Meissen may be the best thing you can do, if you would like to see a good return on your investment. Laurence Mitchell suggests taking the following steps to ensure success.
1. buy what you can afford.
2. Consider the following attributes; condition, quality and rarity, price and provenance.
3. Take advice from a specialist.
At the higher end of the scale any rare pieces that have not been on the market for some time may command the highest prices. For example, the pair of Meissen Lions to be auctioned at Christies on 18th December (see main Meissen blog for more information).

During 2007 both Christies and Sothebys will be holding very major sales of Meissen porcelain.
During the 20th century just after the 2nd world war the wealthy in North America had accumulated large sums of money. Importance was placed on building the largest of collections. The dollar commanded great power and the major antique dealers came over to Europe because antiques of all kinds was on offer in abundance.
Sothebys New York are to hold a large selection of Meissen in their next 19th century sale on 29th November 2006

Meissen's festivals and celebrations are a combination of everything that makes this region so special: fine wine, romantic old quarters and places steeped in history. The town's calendar includes annual highlights such as the wine festival, the Old Town Festival and the medieval festival at Albrechtsburg Castle.

The Meissen factory has been in existence since 1710 and continues its tradition of meticulously hand painting porcelain of the finest quality. It has a very wide range of production, from complete table services in the Onion Pattern, the Swan Service and 1001 Nights, to a large selection of figures as the Monkey Orchestra, the Hentschel Children Series, birds and animals. Our customers have been adding modern pieces to their existing antique services and have been very pleased with the results.
