But when it comes to nineteenth century Meissen, the story is quite different. With the exception of the Meissen manufactory and museums in Japan few museums have any selection of 19th century and those that do only have a few pieces on view.

London has some great museums both the British Museum and V & A have outstanding 18th century Meissen. The V & A may have a few pieces of 19th century too. But London is home to some of the finest 19th century Meissen to be found anywhere. In Kensington Church Street there is David Brower Antiques whose stock of 19th century Meissen is amongst the finest I have ever seen. Here you can find a very large selection of cabinet size figures and groups to large table setting pieces. The popular schnaballen pattern can be found on cups and saucers or vases 3' high.

For another fine stock of 19th century Meissen I recommend Hugh Davies Antiques. A visit to his website is worth seeing. In particular you will also find a large selection of rare 20th century pieces. A visit to his website www.antique-meissen.com is recommended.
